It feels like we’re lost in the dark—each echo screams from an empty heart.

That line came to me in the middle of a breakdown. Not the dramatic, throw-something kind, but the quiet, crushing kind. The kind where everything is still on the outside, but inside you’re spiraling. That’s what this song is made of.

"Echoes from an Empty Heart" is about that numb, hollow ache that follows you when something important breaks inside of you—whether it’s love, trust, or your sense of who you are. It’s about wandering in that emotional dark and hoping that when you scream into the void, something or someone might echo back.

Musically, it's alt rock soaked in grunge and gloom—distorted guitars, layered vocals, heavy drums, and a melody that refuses to resolve. I didn’t want this song to feel safe. I wanted it to feel like the moment before the cry, the shake in your voice before it breaks.

Why I Wrote It

This one came from a place of deep emotional burnout. I felt like I was trying so hard to hold everything together—my relationships, my art, my sanity—and at some point, I stopped feeling anything at all. That terrified me. So I wrote through it.

The verses came first:
"Broken dreams laid out on the floor / We wear our scars like our battle stars."
It’s about survival. About the marks we carry and the way we pretend they make us stronger, even when they’re still bleeding underneath.

The Sound

If you’ve been listening to my stuff for a while, this one leans heavier into that emotional grunge energy I’ve been playing with lately. Think fuzzy guitars, moody chords, and a chorus that hits like a wall of sound. There’s some alt rock in its bones, but the soul of this song is pure ache.

I layered the vocals thick—like voices in your head talking over each other. There’s no clean ending. No easy resolution. Because the truth is, sometimes you don’t get one.
